Single Vane Pump

A Single Vane Pump is a type of positive displacement pump that utilizes a single rotating vane or blade to move fluid through the pump. This pump is primarily designed for transferring low to medium viscosity fluids and is known for its efficiency and reliability in various applications.

  • 1 - A single vane pump typically consists of a rotor with one or more vanes that slide in and out of a slot. The rotor is housed within a cylindrical casing.
  • 2 - As the rotor turns, the vanes move outward due to centrifugal force, creating a series of chambers that trap and move the fluid.
  • 3 - The pump operates on the principle of positive displacement. When the rotor turns, the vanes create a low-pressure area that draws fluid into the pump.
  • 4 - As the rotor continues to turn, the vanes force the fluid out of the pump at a higher pressure, moving it through the discharge port.
  • 5 - The flow is continuous and smooth, making it suitable for applications requiring steady and consistent fluid transfer.
  • 6 - The pump can handle a variety of fluids, including clean water, oils, and some chemicals.

Applications : -

  • 1 - Hydraulic Systems: For powering hydraulic circuits.
  • 2 - Industrial Processes: For transferring liquids in manufacturing processes.
  • 3 - Automotive: In fuel and oil transfer applications.
  • 4 - Simple Design: Fewer moving parts compared to other types of pumps, leading to easier maintenance.
  • 5 - Self-Priming: Many single vane pumps can self-prime, making them easier to start.
  • 6 - Wear on Vanes: The vanes may wear over time, especially if pumping abrasive fluids.
